Decide what tasks would be part of the job and what kind of worker should do it
What is job description
This provides a description of the job – duties, hours, responsibilities
Job specification
This outlines the essential and desirable skills qualities and experience of the person required for the job

This is produced to advertise a job vacancy and can be placed displayed internally or externally
Application form
This is sent out to applicants for completion, to find out about their experience, qualifications and suitability

Three types of training
Induction training, on the job training, off the job training
What is induction training
Training carried out before employee starts job. Allows employees to get to know workplace, learning rules, regulations and get to know colleagues
What is on the job training
Training carried out within the organisation. Getting shown how to do the work by another colleague supervising them
What is off the job training
Training that happens away from the workplace. Could be college or training centre
What are the costs of training
