Barbarian
Originally used by ancient Greeks and Romans to refer to people who did not speak Greek or Latin, later came to refer to non-Roman or non-Greek people considered uncivilized.

A Frankish dynasty that ruled over the Carolingian Empire, encompassing much of Western Europe, during the 8th and 9th centuries. Charlemagne was a prominent ruler from this dynasty.

The Roman emperor who ruled from 306 to 337 CE, credited with legalizing Christianity and moving the capital of the Roman Empire to Constantinople.
Emperor Diocletian
A Roman emperor who ruled from 284 to 305 CE, known for his extensive reforms and the persecution of Christians.
Emperor Justinian
A Byzantine emperor who ruled from 527 to 565 CE 6 CEN and is known for his codification of Roman laws in the Corpus Juris Civilis.
Empress Theodora
The wife of Emperor Justinian I, who exercised significant influence and played a crucial role in Byzantine politics and social policies.
Empress Theophanu
A Byzantine princess who became the Holy Roman Empress through her marriage to Emperor Otto II in the 10th century.
