Assumptions of PEO Model (7)
- The person is dynamic & always develpoing & interacting with the environment. 2. The environment changes & so does behaviour 3. Environments can have enabling or constraining effects on occupational performance. 4.The environment is often easier to change than the person. 5. Occupations are complex. 6. The relationship between the PEO is transactional. 7. Occupational performance changes over a life span.

- Unique being with a variety of roles. 2. Belief in the worth of all persons regardless of disability, age, developmental difficulty or social condition. 3. Approaches the person from an holistic point of view. (meaningless to attend to parts of a person in isolation from other people & environment.) 4. Person is viewed holistically-mind, body, & spirit. 5. Performance components 6. The “person” can refer to an individual, group, organization or community.

Environment in PEO Model (5)
- Physical- including natural & built surroundings 2. Social- including social groupings, common intersts, attitudes. 3. Socioeconomic- finances 4. Cultural- including ethnic, routine practices based on value systems. 5. Institutional/organizational- including societal institutions including policies, decision making, processes, accessibility, legal funding arrangements.
Occupation in PEO Model
Activities, tasks & occupations that make up everyday life. Everything people do to occupy themselves, including -looking after themselves (self-care) -enjoying life (leisure) -contributing to the social & economic fabric of their communities (productivity)
Occupational Performance in PEO Model (3)
- The doing of occupation 2. The outcome of the transaction of the person, the environment & the occupation. 3. The ability to choose, organize, & satisfactorily perform meaningful occupations that are culturally defined & age appropriate for looking after oneself, enjoying life, & contributing to the emotional, social & economic fabric of the community.

Occupational Performance is influenced by the -person -unique environment in which one functions -and occupations that consist of one’s actions & tasks & ultimately create one’s life roles.

Occupational Performance describes the actions that are meaningful to the individual as his self manages, cares for others, works, plays, & participates fully in home & community life. It can be separated into two components. 1. Occupations 2. Performance
The PEO Model’s Application Framework
- Identify occupational performance strengths & problems 2. -Assess performance conponents 2. -Assess occupation, activities, tasks 2. -Assess environment conditions 3. Bring this information together in a transactional framework to develop intervention plan with client. Outcome is evaluated by measuring occupational performance. (middle section)
