Why was there an epipen shortage?
due to the low value of the £, it costs a lot to import products from other EU countries (where epipen is made)
What problems can arise due to stock shortages?

- wastes staffs time trying to find the meds, ringing etc
- adherence can be reduced

- risk of patient harm
community pharmacies buy meds at less than the list price, why?
because they get a discount deduction scale based on their monthly dispensed meds

(total cost of branded products + total cost of generics) - %discount deduction
What cost control things do pharmacy owners do?
