SI Distraction Test
o Testing sacroiliac joint
o Patient lying supine while tester places both hands on ASIS
o Tester applies 3-6 downward pressure thrusts
o Positive test is the reproduction of pain
FABER’s Test
o Testing for hip range of motion
o Patient it supine while one leg is crossed across the other
o One hand fixates the ASIS while the other pressed the crossed leg down
Thomas Test
o Patient sits on the edge of the bed while on leg is pulled to chest
o Tests labrum, IT band or rectus femoris
Obers Test
o Test IT band tightness
o Patient side lying position
o Passive abduction and extension while the other hand fixates the hip
o Slowly lower the leg to the table
o Positive test is when the leg doesn’t touch the table
Piriformis Test
o Testing for piriformis tightness
o Patient in side lying position bringing patients upper leg to 60 degree flexion
o The other hand fixates the hip while downward pressure is applied to the knee
o Test is positive is pain occurs in the buttock
Hip Capsule/Labrum Tears (Scour Test)
o Testing for labrum tears
o Passive test with patients knee at 90 degrees of flexion
o Looking for clicking/catching/locking/crepitus
o Applying axial load to compress the labrum
o Abduction/Adduction with medial and lateral rotations
