pelvis hip knee thigh Flashcards
rectus femoris (quadriceps)
A: NWB: flexion of hip WB: extension of knee
O: anterior inferior iliac spine
I: quadriceps tendon and patellar tendon (tibial tuberosity)
N: femoral nerve
vastus lateralis
A: extension of the knee
O: lateral lip of linea asperal gluteal tuberosity and greater trochanter
I: tibial tuberosity via the patella and patellar ligament
N: femoral nerve
vastus medialis
A: extension of knee
O: intertrochanteric line of femur and meidal linea aspera
I: quadriceps tendon and patellar tendon (tibial tuberosity)
N: femoral nerve
vastus intermedialis
a: extension of knee
O: anterior and lateral shaft of the femur
I: quadriceps tendon and patellar tendon (tibial tuberosity)
N: femoral nerve
biceps femoris (long head)
A: extend the hip and assist to laterally rotate the hip
and tilt the pelvis posteriorly flex the knee and laterally rotate the fixed knee
O: ischial tuberosity
I: head of fibula and lateral tibia
N: sciatic nerve tibial branch
Biceps femoris (short head)
A: Flexion and laterally rotate knee controls knee extension
O: lateral lip of linea aspera of femur
I: head of fibula and lateral tibia
N: sciatic nerve peroneal branch
semitendinosus
a: flex the knee and medially rotate the knee and extend the hip
o: ischial tuberosity
i: proximal medial shaft of tibia
n: sciatic nerve
semimembranosus
a: flex the knee and medially rotate it as well as hip extension
o: ischial tuberosity
i: posterior aspect of medial condyle of tibia
n: sciatic nerve
gluteus maximus
a: extension of hip flexion of knee and laterally rotate the hip and abduct the hip—lower fibers adduct the hip
o: coccyx, edge of sacrum, posterior iliac crest
i: upper fiber- iliotibial tract lower fiber- gluteal tuberosity
n: inferior gluteal
