Pelvis and Reproductive Anatomy Flashcards
Synonym for greater and lesser pelvis and the organs w/in
True-lesser–>rectum, vagina/cervix/uterus, bladder
False-greater–>abdominal organs (intestines)
Bones of Pelives
Ischium, pubis, illium, sacrum
Joints of pelvis
sacroilliac, pubic symphysis, lumbosacral, sacrococcygeal,
Muscles of Pelvic Floor
- Levator ani- puborectalis, pubococcygeus, illeococcygeus
- coccygeus
Cavities above and below pelvic floor
Above- pelvic cavity
Below- Perineum
Nerves of Pelvis
Sacral Plexus- sciatic, pudendal, superior gluteal, inferior gluteal
Obturator
Lumbar Sympathetic Trunk
Blood Supply to Pelvis
Internal illiac-goes through obturator foramen and turns into obturator artery
Superior/Inferior Gluteal nerves innervate which muscles?
Superior- minnimus and medius
Inferior- maximus
Femoral Triangle boundaries and contents
Illioinguinal ligament, adductor longus, sartorius
Common femoral nerve, femoral artery, femoral vein, greater saphenous
Routes out of Pelvies
Obturator, femoral canal, sciatic notch (greater and lesser), anus, vagina, urethra
Boundaries of Rectum
After sigmoid colon to anus
Where anal canal begins and ends
Begins- anorectal line
Ends- Outside body
Spermatic Cord Contains
blood vessels, vas deferens, nerves, and cremaster muscle
Passage of Sperm out of Body
Testes, epididymus, vas deferens through the spermatic cords, to the prostate gland where the vas deferen and seminal vessicle converge into the ejaculatory duct of the prostate. Urethral prostate, membranous prostate, distal prostate, out the urethral meatus of the glans penis.
Round and Broad Ligament
Round- anchors uterus to wall of pelvis
Broad- anchors entire uterus in pelvic cavity
