Pelvic Vessels Flashcards
What are the two main branches of the common iliac artery?
External and internal iliac
What are the two branches of the external iliac prior to the lateral umbilical fold?
Deep circumflex iliac
Inferior epigastric
What are the two branch of the external iliac/femoral artery post lateral umbilical fold?
Superficial circumflex iliac
External pudendal
What are the first 3 posterior branches of the internal iliac artery?
Iliolumbar
Superior gluteal
Lateral sacral
What are the anterior branches of the internal iliac artery?
Umbilical artery
Obturator artery
What are the little branches of the umbilical artery called?
Superior vesicals
Continuing down the internal iliac, what are the two big branches?
Posteriorly: inferior gluteal
Anteriorly: Internal pudendal
Still along the internal iliac, what are the two smaller branches near the bottom?
Middle and inferior rectals
What are the branches of the internal pudendal artery?
Artery to the corpus cavernosum
Artery to the corpus spongiosum
Perineal artery
Deep & dorsal arteries to the penis/clitoris
In a male, what is the additional branch of the internal iliac artery and what is the additional branch from the superior vesicals?
We have an inferior vesical artery from the internal iliac.
It branches off into the artery to the prostate and artery to the seminal vesicles.
The superior vesicals give off an artery to the ductus deferens.
In a female, what are the additional branches of the internal iliac artery?
Uterine artery
Vaginal artery, which also gives off an inferior vesical branch.
What are the two common variations of the obturator artery and inferior gluteal artery?
Sometimes, the obturator artery comes from the external iliac instead of the internal iliac.
Sometimes, the inferior gluteal artery comes from the superior gluteal artery instead of the internal iliac.
What do ovarian arteries anastomoses with?
Uterine arteries
Vaginal artery
