originates at the confluence of the internal and external iliac veins ventrally to the sacro-iliac joint

The branches of common illiac are:
internal iliac, external iliac, ascending lumbar, medial sacral and iliolumbar veins
The external iliac vein is a continuation of
the common femoral vein
External iliac vein branches
inferior epigastric and deep circumflex iliac vein.
Internal iliac vein consists of
parietal tributaries and visceral tributaries
Parietal tributaries consist of
superior gluteal veins, inferior gluteal veins, obturator veins, internal pudendal veins, lateral sacral veins
the visceral tributaries consist of:
pudendal plexus of Santorini, vesical venous plexus, vaginal venous plexus, uterine venous plexus, internal rectal plexus and sacral venous plexus
