Pelvic Girdle
consists of 2 coxal (pelvic/hip) bones
supports the trunk of the body
provides attachment for the lower limbs
protects urinary bladder, distal ends of intestines and the reproductive organs.

Ilium
Largest + most superior portion of hip bone. flares outward forming the prominence of the hip.
Ischium
Forms the lower portion of the hip bone. Supports the weight of the body while sitting.
Pubis
Anterior portion of the hip bone.
Acetabulum
Pubic symphysis
Iliac crest
Femur
Thigh bone, Longest and strongest bone in the body.
Patella
Kneecap. Flat, sesamoid bone.
Sesamoid
Tibia
Shin bone. Larger of the 2 leg bones, weight bearing bone of the leg.
Fibula
Long, slender bone on the lateral side of the tibia. “little fibber.”
