Pelvic Anatomy Flashcards
The majority of arteries of pelvis and perineum arise from internal iliac artery, with what exceptions?
gonadal artery
superior rectal artery
Where does the Anterior scrotal artery come from?
external iliac
Name 2 differences between the arteries of the male and female pelvis.
females have no inferior vesical artery – replaced by vaginal (which gives off branches to inferior bladder!)
females have a uterine artery which is a homolog of the artery to the vas deferens (ductus)
Ureter damage occurs more on the left than right, but why?
because the right is constant and usually crosses the external iliac, the left is more medial and crosses common iliac
Where do gonadal arteries come from?
abdominal aorta
Pudendal nerve supplies what?
perineum
