Actions for PEEP
A
Reduces workload of breathing and helps airway to remain open. reduces pressure in the thoracic cavity reducing preload and increasing afterload to the R ventricle reducing the amount of fluid entering the lungs

PEEP settings
A
- ADULT - set to 5cmH20 for TBI, COPD, asthma or signs of shock. COPD increase to 15 if no improvement
- CHILD - set to 5cmH20 for all conditions
- NEONATES - Set to 5cmH20 including cardiac arrest
