Pedigree Flashcards
What are autosomal recessive traits?
deleterious or lethal recessive traits – a gene map that showcases a continuous mating where these lethal recessive traits are expressed.
usually showcased as skipping a generation.
What is Autosomal Dominant?
presents im both male and female offspring, doesnt skip a generation, and presents in offspring with a dominant gene / heterozygous or dominant homozygous
What are X-Linked recessive traits?
leads to only affected male offspring and female carriers. Only males express the recessive because they only contain 1 X chromosome, so the recessive trait linked to the X is expressed at a much more potent level as compared to the female XX, who can only carry the trait
What are X-Linked Dominant traits?
Male and Female offspring can showcase the trait expressed, but not all.
What are Y-Linked traits?
traits only expressed by male offspring that can only be passed by male parents.
