- Parallelogram shaped skull with ipsilateral flattening and contralateral bulging
2
Q
Positional Left Plagiocephaly
A
- Typically due to congenital muscular torticollis on the right

3
Q
Physical Therapy Goals and Interventions
A
- Prevention about education about prolonged supine position and CMT.
- More successful with early intervention
- Caregiver education
4
Q
Cranial Remolding
A
- If PT does not correct problem a helmet is prescribed made of thermoplastic material
- As the brain grows it pushes the skull into the helmet and remodels the skull
- Worn 20-23 hours/ day for 3-7 months
- Most effective if begun between 4-6 months
- At 18 months the sutures of the skull fuse and the helmet is no longer useful
