what does “aperta” myelodysplasia mean and what are two types?
open, myelomeningocele and meningocele

OPEN – protrudes dorsally WITHOUT skin covering. protrusion contains CSF, spinal cord, and/or nerve roots. motor paralysis and sensory loss (usually)
meningocele
OPEN – WITH skin covering. contains only meninges, CSF, and nonfunctional nerves. not initially associated with paralysis
