treatment of varicella
ancyclovir 500 mg every 8 hrs X 10 days ( neonatal )
Acyclovir 20 mg/kg qid X 5 days ( child)
Ddx for herpes zoster
comedones
contact dermatitis
multiple folliculitis
Have a history of chicken pox
etiologic agent: varicella zoster
grouped vesicles following dermatomal distribution
Herpes zoster
Treatment for herpes simplex
acyclovir: 800 mg 5X/daily
Valcyclovir: 1000 mg
Famciclovir: 500 mg 3x/daily for 7 days
