Pectoral region and breast Flashcards
Deltoid origin
Lateral 1/3 clavicle, spine of scapula and acromion
Deltoid insertion
Deltoid tuberosity
Deltoid Action
Spinal: Lateral rotation and extension
Acromial: Abduction
Clavicular: Medial rotation and flexion
Deltoid innervation
Axillary nerve (CN 5,6)
Deltoid Arterial Supply
Thoracoacromial artery, circumflex scapular artery, and anterior and posterior circumflex humeral artery
Pectoralis Major origin
Clavicular head: anterior surface of medial
half of clavicle
Sternocostal head: anterior surface of sternum,
superior six costal cartilages, aponeurosis of
external oblique muscle
Pectoralis Major Insertion
lateral lip of intertubercular sulcus of the
humerus
Pectoralis Major Innervation
lateral and medial pectoral nerves,
clavicular head (C5, C6), sternocostal head (C7, C8,
T1)
Pectoralis Major Action
adducts and medially rotates shoulder joint,
draws scapula anteriorly and inferiorly
Clavicular head – flexes shoulder
Sternocostal head – extend from the flexed position
Pectoralis Major Arterial supply
Superior and Lateral thoracic artery, internal thoracic artery, and pectoral branches of thoracoacromial artery
Pectoralis Minor Origin
3-5th ribs near costal cartilages
Pectoralis Minor Insertion
Medial border and the superior surface of the coracoid process
Pectoralis Minor Innervation
Median Pectoral Nerve (C8,T1)
Pectoralis Minor Action
stabilizes scapula by drawing
inferiorly and anteriorly against
thoracic wall
Pectoralis Minor Arterial Supply
Pectoral and deltoid
branches of thoracoacromial
artery, superior and lateral thoracic
arteries
Subclavius Origin
Junction of 1st rib and its costal cartilage
