Pectoral region and axilla Flashcards
origin of the pectoralis major
medial inferior border of the clavicle
manubrium
sternum
costal cartilages 2-6
external abdominal oblique aponeurosis
attachment of pec major
crest of the greater tubercle of the humerus
action of the pec major
adducts and medially rotates the humerus
clavicular head flexes the humerus
what innervates the pectoralis major?
medial and lateral pectoral nerves
so it has 5 cord levels of innervation which is ALOT
pectoralis minor origin
outer surfaces of ribs 3-5 (sometimes 2-4)
insertion of pectoralis minor
coracoid process of the scapula
action of the pectoralis minor
protracts and depresses the scapula
accessory muscle of inspiration
what innervates the pectoralis minor?
medial pectoral nerve (goes through minor to get to major)
C8 and T1
origin and insertion of the subclavius
o is the upper border of 1st rib and costal cartilage
insertion is the inferior surface of clavicle
action of the subclavius
pulls lateral end of clavicle downward and forward, thereby acting to resist shoulder elevation and protraction (don’t go too far)
what innervates the subclavius?
nerve to subclavius C5 and C6
