A

georges clemenceau - france - wanted to take a great deal of revenge so that Germany could never become strong enough to attack france again

Lloyd George - Britain - personally thought it wrong to take too much of a revenge however was aware the public wanted to squeeze germany till their pips squeaked

Vittorio Orlando - Italy - not mentioned

Woodrow Wilson - USA - peaceful world [desperate]

name some of the German losses and how it impacted them

A

firstly germany lost Alsace-Lorraine a land which was rich in iron ore and coal. this provided cheap raw materials for Germany. Furthermore, they lost overseas colonies in Asia and Africa, they were also restricted from trading with them. Secondly, Germany had too cut down its army, the air force was abolished and the Navy was limited. All submarines were to be scrapped and their production stopped. Germany was too admit the war was entirely their fault and pay the reparations. Conscription which was a compulsory service was to be banned.

why did the league of nations fail?

A

the league failed for numerous reasons.

  • many countries refused or were banned from joining the league
  • there was no army
  • no strong authority for check and balance
  • unable to stop major disputes such as japan invading Manchuria [1931] , or Germany rearming themselves [1933] , or Italy invading Abyssinia [ 1935]
