Justice
Justice is one of the ways in which christians help Gods Kingdom to spread on earth
Just War Theory
Was devised by St Thomas Aquinas and outlines what is justified or righteous when going to war and how to behave in war
Just cause
Reason for why you are going to war should be for defence or protection, never for attack
Last resort
All peaceful methods of revolution must of been tried first
Legitimate Authority
The person declaring the war must be the person in position to do so
Right intention
Aim of the war should be to re-establish peace
Principle of discrimination
Only targeting things that are related to the war effort, not civilians
Behaviour of troops
You need to be able to control your army, otherwise it is very difficult to establish
Reasonable chance of success
Only go to war when the intention of war is achievable
Proportionality
Damaged caused by going to war should not outweigh the damaged caused by not going to war
Holy war
An authorised war by a religious leader which has a religious goal
Crusades
An example of holy war
Pacifism
The belief that all war and violence is wrong
Pacifist
A person who believes that all war and violence is wrong
Conscientious objectors
Pacifist that refuse to go to war but help out
Terrorism
An act of violence against civilians by a group to achieve their goals
Weapons of mass destruction
It is a weapon that when used causes loss of life or damage to the environment
Nuclear weapon
A weapon which causes an atomic reaction which devastates huge areas and kills lots of people
Biological weapon
A weapon which uses a living organism (virus, bacteria) to spread disease and death
Chemical weapon
A weapon that uses natural or man-made compounds to spread disease or death
Righteous anger
Righteous anger is putting your anger in a positive way
Forgivness
The action or process of forgiving or being forgiven
Violence
Behaviour involving physical force intended to hurt, damage, or kill someone or something
Bullying
Use superior strength or influence to intimidate (someone), typically to force them to do something
Radicallisation
Adopting extreme views on religious, social or political issues
Martyr
A person who dies because of their beliefs
Martyrdom
The death of a martyr
Torture
An action on someone as a punishment in order to force them to do or say something
Peace-making
The action of trying to establish peace
Conflict resolution
Creating peace between 2 parties that have been at war or in a dispute with each other
Non-violent resistance
Resisting a government without using violence. For example, protest
