Buddhists promote peace, both for society and individuals

Most Buddhists would be against war regardless of its cause because of the suffering, act of harm and loss of life it causes
However some Buddhists may say that war is ok if it is because of self defence as you will say more life’s that there are lives lost

Often causes unnecessary death and it is very hard to fulfil all the just war criteria in real life conflicts

It allows for war to be a last resort and could be used to protect the weak

Violence does not embody the ethical ideals of metta and Karuna towards all living beings
