Q

What are some arguments that support torture?

A

Some arguments for torture are that sometimes, torturing someone is the only way to get information out of them “the lesser evil”. Also, using force against terrorism suspects will act as a deterrent to other considering to do the same. Finally if a person is holding information that is needed urgently to stop an event that could endanger people’s lives, using force is more likely to bring a quicker result

Q

What are some arguments that go against torture?

A

Some arguments agianst torture are that using techniques that amount to torture creates pain, suffering, humiliation fear, anger and ultimately hatred in the tortured person and the community they come from. This hatred could lead them to attempt to exact revenge and this could endanger the lives of many innocent people. Inflictint pain and suffering to another person goes against the word of God as in the bible it says “blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be made the Children of God” and by causing pain to someone, that person will not become a child of God.
