It is immediate help provided to a sick or injured person until professional medical help arrives or becomes available.
First aid
These are commonly caused by overusing the body part, or the direct application of force that is greater than the body part can structurally withstand.
Sports injuries
What are the two types of injuries?
(1) Acute injuries
(2) Chronic injuries
These are those that happen suddenly and unexpectedly.
Acute injuries
These are developed when the same group of muscles or joints are overused for a long period of time and can develop slowly without knowing it.
Chronic injuries
What are the 12 common sports injuries?
(1) Sprain
(2) Ankle Sprain
(3) Bruise
(4) Concussion
(5) Cut and abrasion
(6) Dehydration
(7) Dental damage
(8) Dislocation
(9) Fracture
(10) Strain
(11) Knee joint injury
(12) Nose injury
This happens when the ligaments that connect the bone to the joint are twisted or stretched.
Sprain
This happens when the ligaments in the ankle bone are stretched or twisted, resulting in pain, swelling, and stiffness.
Ankle Sprain
This is caused by bumps or falls. The skin turns blue or black because of the bleeding of ruptured tissues under the skin.
Bruise
This is a minor head trauma caused by a blow to the head.
Concussion
These happen when the skin rubs off or tears, which is caused by falling or sliding.
Cut and abrasion
This happens when the body loses too much fluid. It can lead to exhaustion and heatstroke.
Dehydration
This happens when a tooth or teeth are dislodged, cracked, or broken. It is usually caused by a hit in the jaw.
Dental damage
This usually happens in the elbows and shoulders because of a fall, wherein the bone is forcefully separated from its joint.
Dislocation
This happens when a high-impact force causes a bone (or bones) to break.
Fracture
This happens when the muscle is stretched or pulled too much, causing the muscle fibers to tear.
Strain
It happens when there is pain and swelling of muscles around the front pelvis and inner thighs.
Groin strain
It results from the overstretching of hamstring muscles, which may result in bruising, pain, and swelling.
Hamstring strain
This happens when ligaments, tendons, and cartilages of the knee are damaged causing pain, swelling, and stiffness to the knee.
Knee joint injury
This happens when the nose is hit forcefully, which results in bleeding or a broken nose.
Nose injury

Splint
It is a partial or complete loss of consciousness resulting from a temporary reduction of blood to the brain.
Fainting
It occurs when the blood and oxygen supply to the heart is reduced, causing damage to the heart muscle and preventing blood from circulating effectively.
Heart attack
What is the other term for heart attack?
Myocardial infraction
CPR stands for?
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
These are painful involuntary muscle cramps that can occur during and after exercise or working in a hot environment.
Heat cramps

Exhaustion
It is a form of hyperthermia.
Heatstroke
It occurs when a person’s breathing is faster and more shallow than normal.
Hyperventilation
It occurs when an outer layer of the skin is broken.
Open wound
These occur when the normal functions of the brain are disrupted by injury, disease fever, poison, or infection.
Seizures
