Uncompensated Respiratory Alkalosis

How would you diagnose P.E.?

A

Spiral CT
CT angiogram
D-Dimer - but be cautious about it in hospital patients
BNP - if its causing back up to the Right heart

What is the treatment for P.E.?

4 things

A

Heparin or Coumadin to prevent more clots

TPA or streptokinase

Oxygen Therapy or Vent Support

Thromboectomy & surgical embolectomy if the patient is high risk or contraindicated for anticoagulant treatment
