How is PCOS diagnosed

A

Rotterdam criteria
1) polycustuc ovarian morphology
- 12 or more follicles 2-9mm in size
- ovarian volume 10cm3

2) hyperandrogenism: clinical or biochemical

3) oligo/anovulation

Needs only 2 of the above

What are the risk of PCOS

A
  • gestational diabetes 2x higher
  • increased glucose intolerance and type 2 dm
  • obstructive sleep apnea in obese women
  • depression, anxiety, eating disorders, sexual dysfunction
  • endometrial hyperplasia and cancer
  • metabolic syndrome - Cardiovascular disease, dyslipidemia
