Inc. BP. Inc. HR & SV.
What class does Eplerenone belong to?
Mineralcoricoid Receptor Antagonist
What is the mechanism of Nitroglycerin?
Releases NO –> Inc. cyclic GMP in smooth muscle –> desphosphorylation of MLC –> Dilation of veins/arteries (more arteries) (1/2 life 1 to 4 minutes)
What is the mechanism of Furosemide?
Blocks NaCL (NKCC) reabsorption in thick ascending limb of loop of Henle
What is the mechanism of Enalapril/Lisinopril?
Competitive inhibitor of ACE (angiotensin-converting enzyme) prevents conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II –> Dec. Angiotensin II –> Inc. renin & Dec. aldosterone secretion
What is the mechanism of Digoxin?
Inhibits Na+/K+ ATPase pump in myocardial cells –> transient Na+ Inc. (intracellular) –> Ca2+ influx via Na+/Ca2+ exchange pump –> Inc. contractility
What is the mechanism of Hydrazine?
Release of NO from drug & endothelial cells –> arteriole dilation (not venous) (not well understood), Inc. CO & SV, direct relaxation of vascular smooth muscle, Dec. Diastolic more than systolic
*Only give with HTN
What is the mechanism of Isosorbide dinitrate?
NO –> Inc. cyclic GMP in smooth muscle –> Dephosphorylation of MLC –> Dilation of veins/arterioles (1/2 life 1+ hours)
What is the mechanism of metropolol?
Beta1 agonist, HR inc., SV inc., BP inc.
