- Also called “old self” (or old man)
3
Q
The New Creation
A
- All those affected by sin are offered a new life in Christ
- The ‘old man’ is to be put off, and the ‘new man’ is to be put on
4
Q
How is this symbolized through baptism
A
- One strips off to go in the water
- One is washed
- Is buried with Christ
- Is raised with Christ
- Is a new person when he emerges to live in a brand new existence
- the putting off of this new man is ‘aorist’ point in time: non-the-less it is an ongoing command. Everyday it is to be off with the old and in with the new
