What is the purpose of a Warning Order?
Used as a preliminary notice of an order or action which is to follow. A patrol leader will issue a warning order as soon as is practical with as much pertinent information a possible that will assist patrol members in the operation.
What format is the Warning Order based on?
Based upon the SMEAC fomat and will include information from each of the five paragraphs.

location of pre-planned targets
all tactical control measures

What is a patrol overlay?
A transparent or transluscent graphical depiction of special mililtary information that has been plotted at the same scale of a map, photograph, imagery, or graphic.
What is the purpose of a Patrol Overlay?
Whether operating at a Battalion or a Company level the COC must always be aware of the locations and activity of patrolling units.
How many steps are there in the preparation of a Patrol Overlay and what are they?
3 Steps
- Orientation of the overlay
- Plotting and symbolization of the detail
- Required Marginal information
What is the purpose of register marks on the overlay?
Shows the receiver of the overlay exactly where on the map the overlay fits by tracing the grid intersections nearest the opposite corners of the area depicted.
What is plotted on a patrol overlay?
The patrols primary and alternate routes by color, pre-planned targets and TCM’s.
