Cotrimoxazole ADR

A

n/v (take after food). Adequate hydration to prevent crystalluria. Discontinue at first signs of rash.

Nitrofurantoin

A

avoid use at pregnancy term. CrCl<30ml/min no, pyelonephritis no. ADR: n/h, vaginal mycoses.
Take with food, increase absorption, reduce GI upset. Dark coloured urine.

not for pyelonephritis, CrCl<30ml. ADR: d/h/vaginitis. Take with or without food.

Avoid tyramine eg soy products and aged cheese and histamine rich food, GI (n/d/h/rash)
