Q
General pathogenesis of viral enteritides
Replication of the virus
A

3. Vitamin-E deficiency
4. Atrophy of the immune organs (immunosuppression, secondary infections)
3
Q
Normal intestinal mucosa ratio
A
Crypt : villus = 1 : 7
4
Q
Enteric diseases and their consequenses
A
- Villus denudation
- Villus atrophy
- Multifocal inflammatory cell infiltration in the liver (portal circulation!)
- Diarrhea – wet litter – pododermatitis – ventral recumbency (sternal bursitis, dehydration, starvation)
- Dehydration – renal degeneration (enlarged, pale kidneys, or tubular pattern & Degeneration of the epithelium of the renal tubules)
- Heterogeneous flock
- Epiphyseolysis (femur) the epiphysis detaches – exsanguination
- Abnormal feathering
5
Q
Other enteric diseases
A
- Necrotic enteritis (NE) - Bacterium
- Coccidiosis –> Parasite
6
Q
Enteric disease Complex
A
- Runting-Stunting Syndrome (RSS)
- Malabsorption syndrome (MAS)
- Infectious stunting syndrome (ISS)
- Pale bird syndrome (refers to pale legs due to impaired carotene absorption)
- Helicopter disease (refers to abnormalities of feathering)
- Brittle bone disease (refers to disorders of bone formation due to impaired calcium absorption)
7
Q
Respiratory diseases
A
- Catarrhal rhinitis
- Fibrinous airsacculitis
