path of urine drainage Flashcards
What is the path of urine drainage?
collecting duct—>papillary duct—> Minor calyx—-.Major calyx—-> Renal pelvis—->Ureter—>urinary bladder
Although kidneys constitue less than 0.5% of total body mass, they receive
20-25% of resting cardiac output
Nephron is considered the
function/filtering unit
The nephron has a 2 step process what is it
1) Glomerulus- filters blood
2) Tubule- returns needed substances back to blood and removes waste
What is the path flow of blood
renal artery—>segmental arteries—>Interlobar artery—>arcuate artery—>cortical radiate artery—>afferent glomerular arterioles—> Glomerular capillaries—>Efferent glomerular arterioles—>Pertibular capillaries—>pertibular venules—> cortical radiate veins—>Arcurate veins—> Interlobar veins—>Renal vein
The renal corpuscle consists of two parts. What are they?
1) Glomerulus- A mass of capillaries that is fed by the afferent arteriole and drains into the efferent arteriole
2) Glomeruar (Bowman’s) capsule- This has a visceral layer of podocytes, which wrap around the capillaries. The filtrate is collected between the visceral and parietal layers.
What is the glomerulus?
A mass of capillaries that is fed by the afferent arteriole and drains into the efferent arteriole
What is the glomerular (Bowman’s capsule)
This has a visceral layer of podocytes, which wrap around the capillaries. The filtrate is collected between the visceral and parietal layers.
What is the flow of fluid through the nephron?
Renal artery—-> Afferent glomerular arterioles—> Glomerulus—>Efferent glomerular arterioles—-> Renal vein
Excretion of solute=
Glomerular filtration + Secretion - Reabsorption
What are kindeys richly supplied by?
Sympathetic fibers
