Q

How does a pacinian corpuscle allow detection of a stimulus?

A

The lamellae become deformed causing the stretch mediated sodium ion channels in the neurone membrane to open. Sodium ions enter the neurone depolarising the membrane and if the threshold is reached an action potential will be produced
