What kind of virus is parvovirus B19?
DNA virus
Presentation in children
Mild fever
Nose red cheeks
Rash may spread to other parts of the body, but rarely involves palms or feet
What is unusual about this rash?
May recur after illness if having a warm bath or in the sun
Presentation in adults
Acute arthritis
Infectious period
3-5 days before rash, but not after rash
Do kids need to be kept home from school?
No because you’re not infectious after the rash occurs
