1. Greeting - We gather to listen to the Word of God (readings) and celebrate Eucharist (receive Jesus)
2. Penitential Act - We tell God we are sorry for our sins

PURPOSE: To prepare ourselves to be in the presence of God, and we come together as baptised believers of Christ

SIGNIFICANCE: We prepare with the sign of the cross, as we are entering a sacred space, and God gathers us as the priest greets people. The words from the bible are very sacred and the priest becomes a figure of Christ, sharing the words given to him by Jesus

PURPOSE: To make a commitment to go forth and try to be more like Jesus

SIGNIFICANCE: The priest sends us to go out and try to be like Jesus in our head and heart.
