Exposure Compensation Button (+/-)

A

In modes other than auto.
Used to alter exposure from the value suggested by the camera.
Chose from values between +/-5 in increments of 1/3.
Press the (+/-) and rotate the main command dial.

A

Press the lock release and rotate the dial to choose between shooting modes: Auto, P ‘programmed auto’, S ‘shutter priority auto’, A ‘aperture priority auto’, M ‘manual’, and U1, U2, U3 ‘user settings mode’

Monitor mode button

A

AF assist illuminator/Red-eye reduction lamp/Self-timer lamp

A

May light if the subject is too poorly lit./Reduces the look of red-eye./The self-timer lamp will start to flash after the timer is started, stopping two seconds before the photo is taken.

Lens mounting mark

A

When attaching a lens, be sure the camera is off, align the mounting marks on the lens and camera body, and rotate until the lens clicks into place.

Detaching a lens: camera off, press and hold the lens release button while turning the lens clockwise.

Charge lamp

A

To be used with AC charging adapter (sold separately), the charge lamp lights amber while charging is in progress and turns off when charging is complete. The camera can be used while connected but the battery will not charge.

If the battery won’t charge (ex: the battery isn’t compatible or the temp is elevated) the lamp will flash rapidly for 30 seconds and then turn off.

Diopter adjustment control

A

To focus the viewfinder. Lift and rotate the diopter adjustment control. Push the control back in once focus is adjusted to your liking.

A

A

For quick access to frequently used settings. Use the button or the icon on the display.

Tap the desired item or highlight items and press “ok” to view options. You can also adjust settings by highlighting items and rotating the command dials.

Pressing i during playback displays a context-sensitive menu of frequently-used playback options.

A

Zoom in button (magnifying glass w/ plus sign)

A

Can be used for greater precision when using manual focus to zoom in on the view through the lens.

Fn1 and Fn2 buttons

A

Can be used for quick access to selected settings during shooting. The settings assigned these buttons can be chosen using Custom Setting f2 (Custom control assignment) and the selected setting adjusted either by pressing the button or by pressing the button and rotating the command dials. At default settings, the Fn1 button is used for white balance and Fn2 button to select focus and AF-area modes.

A

DISP button

A

Use to view or hide indicators in the monitor or viewfinder. Pressing the button cycles the display as follows: indicators on, simplified display, histogram, flash info, information display, virtual horizon.

Menu button

A

To view the menus. To navigate, use the multi selector and (OK) button. Press (OK) to select a highlighted item. To exit without making a selection, press the MENU button. To exit the menus and return to shooting mode, press the shutter-release button halfway.

A

For quick access to frequently used settings. The i menu can be customize by selecting Custom Settings f1 for pictures and g1 for video.
