Parts of the brain Flashcards
Somatory sensory cortex
a fold of cells sensitive to the touch of every part of the body (the folds in the lobes)
corpus callosum
connects the left and right part of the brain (under the folds the long arch shaped thing)
Hippocampus
memory (above the amydala)
Amydala
process emotional info (the little Lima bean sized shapes)
recticular formation
reward center for learning and emotion (the circler bump on the brain stem)
medulla
breathing and pulse (the smaller circular bump under the recticular formation)
brain stem
input of all info
cerebellum
timing aiming and rhythum (the little brain)
Hypothalamus
hunger, thirst and sex (under the thalamus and to the right of the hippocampus)
Thalamus
the gate that filters info around the brain (located under the corpus and to the right of the hippocampus)
Frontal lobe
fine motor skills, and decision making (located in the front of the brain)
parietal lobe
pain, touch, temp (located on the top of the brain directly behind the frontal lobe)
temporal lobe
hearing, music, sound or tempo (located underneath the parietal lobe)
occipital lobe
vision (at the back of the brain above the cerebellum)
