Intransitive Verb
Doesn’t require a direct object.
Adjective
Modifies nouns and pronouns Answers: What kind? Which one? How many?
Adverb
Modifies adjectives, verbs, and adverbs. Answers: Where? How? When? To what extent?
Noun
Person, place, thing, or idea.
Hint: some end in ment or tion
Demonstrative pronoun
Points out person, place, thing, idea.
Ex: That is the Statue of Liberty.
Indefinitive Pronoun
Not specifically named.
Ex: Something is bothering me.
Interrogative Pronoun
Introduces a question.
Ex: Who discovered DNA?
Relative Pronoun
Introduces a subordinate clause.
Ex: The book [that I need] belongs to John.
Independent clause
Subject+Verb
Ex: It might rain tomorrow
Dependent clause
Subject+verb
Ex: Because it is going to rain tomorrow.
Independent clause + Independent clause=
Comma splice/run on sentence
Fix with a period to make two sentences, a comma with a conjunction, or a semicolon where a period would go.
Interjection
Shows emotion of excitement.
Conjunction
FANBOYS

Preposition
Shows the relation between one thing to another.
Transitive Verb
Requires a direct object. Something receives the action.
