Modify verbs, adjectives, other adverbs, or entire sentences or clauses. An adverb awnsers the question How? eg. Cherrel moved awkwardly…
when? eg. I arrived yesterday. Where? They searched everywhere. How often? He telephoned repeatedly. To what extent? Simon was rather slow to awnser his e-mail.
Conjunctions
connect words, phrases and clauses.
preposition
links and relates its object(a noun or a pronoun) to the rest of the sentence. Prepositions often show relationships of time, place, direction, and manner.
eg. I walked around (preposition)the block(object).
eg. She called during (preposition) our meeting (object).
Interjections
are words that express emotion or suprise. They are followed by an exclamation point, comma, or period, depending on whether they stand alone or serve as part or all of a sentence. Interjections are used in speech more than writting.
eg. Wow! What an announcment!
