PARTS OF MICROSCOPE Flashcards
It is through this part of the microscope that the object is observed.
To produce a high magnification with a good resolution, the lens
must be small
Ocular (Eyepiece) Lens
It is used to compensate for the difference in the observer’s sight or
vision between the left eye and the right eye.
Diopter Adjustment Ring
It determines the distance between the left eye and the right eye
Interpupillary Distance
Scale
It is used to adjust the interpupillary distance scale
Interpupillary Distance
Adjustment Seat
It is a monocular or binocular tube that transmits the image from the
objective lens to the ocular.
Observation Tube
It is used for holding the microscope.
Arm
It holds the objectives.
Rotating this part easily changes the magnification of the objectives.
Revolving Nosepiece
t is the most important part of the microscope producing a clear
image of the specimen.
It is the primary lens that magnifies the specimen.
The higher the magnification of an objective, the greater is the
feature or detail seen in a specimen.
Objective Lens
It is rotated to locate into focus the specimen by moving the stage
up and down.
Coarse Focus
Adjustment Knob
It is rotated to obtain a clearer view of the image
Fine Focus Adjustment
Knob
It rotates the ring to adjust the tension of the coarse focus adjustment
knob.
Coarse Focus
Adjustment Knob and
Tension Adjustment Ring
It is rotated to move the specimen glass plate in a vertical direction
Vertical Feed Knob
It is rotated to move the specimen glass plate in a horizontal
direction
Horizontal Feed Knob
It is used to secure the observation tube.
It should be loosened when rotating the observation tube.
Observation Tube
Securing Knob
It is the part where the specimen is placed
