Organ
Musical instrument used to accompany the singing of hymns and worship
Pulpit
Where the vicar or priest stands to give his sermons.
Pews
Where the congregation (a group of people assembled for religious worship) sit. These face the altar and are often benches. This symbolises that people are together and equal.
Font
This is used for baptism which welcomes people into the Church community. It is placed near the door to symbolically show that it is part of the entrance to the Church.
Stained Glass Windows
These have images of stories from the Bible. These help children understand the stories or people in the past who were unable to read.
Choir stalls
Where the choir singers sit. The choir help to lead worship though singing.
Lectern
Readers stand here to read out passage of the Bible.
Confessional
This is only in Catholic churches. This is where people go to explain their sins to the priest. The priest then gives them advice and can offer them forgiveness from God.
Altar/Communion table
Holiest part of the church. Used for communion.
