Describe the Cadre Party?
. Minimal organization
- outside of parliament

. Externally created (they go outside and look for ppl to vote for them)
- extensive organization
. It’s a superior form and wave of future
Describe the Catch-all party?
. Interest groups
. Emphasizing leader (charismatic)
. Move to center (cuz losing encompas. idealogies)
. One’s success is success of all
Describe Cartel Parties?
. Exploit state’s resources to discourage newcomers
. A part of state
. Share power with each other

An institution that seeks influence in state and consists of more than one interest group.
What are Party Systems?
A system where political parties interact with one another.
What are party systems affected by?
- The nature of the political system (smd, pr)
- Social cleavages (division or hierarchy of society)
- Form of competition between parties (Liberal democracy wla authoritarian)
What are some of problems facing the party systems?
- A decline in membership
- A decline in the popularity of parties
- A crisis in funding
It’s becoming more expensive to campaign so you either take fund from states or allow your members greater roles so they can fund your party.
What are types of party systems?
- Dominant-party system. (SMD)
- Two-party system. (SMD)
- Multiparty system. (3 or more have real chance of winning)
