What are some important topics we need to teach pt’s about surgery/recovery?
- surgical events, sensations, procedural info
- pain management
- physical activities: deep breathing, coughing, IS (10x per hour), leg exercises, turning in bed, early ambulation
What does ICOUGH stand for?
incentive spirometer coughing/deep breathing oral care understanding getting out of bed HOB elevation
