14 CFR
Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations pertaining to Aviation
Advisory Circular (AC)
non-regulatory documents intended to inform and guide institutions and individuals within the aviation industry, as well as the general public.
Angle of Attack (AOA)
It is the angle that is formed by the chord of the airfoil and the direction of the relative wind or between the chord line and the flight path.
Center of Gravity (CG)
considered as a point at which all the weight of the aircraft is concentrated.
Code of Federal Regulations (CFR)
is the codification of the general and permanent rules published in the Federal Register by the departments and agencies of the Federal Government.
Coordinated Universal Time (UTC)
is the primary time standard by which the world regulates clocks and time. It is effectively a successor to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT)

International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)
The United Nations agency for developing the principles and techniques of international air navigation, and fostering planning and development of international civil air transport.
National Airspace System (NAS)
network of airspace—air navigation facilities, equipment and services, airports or landing areas; aeronautical charts, information and services; rules, regulations and procedures, technical information; and manpower and material.
Nautical Miles (NM)
Unit of measurement used in air, marine, and space navigation, and for the definition of territorial waters. It is defined as exactly 1852 meters (about 1.15 miles).
Notice to Airmen (NOTAM)
A notice filed with an aviation authority to alert aircraft pilots of potential hazards along a flight route or at a location that could affect the safety of the flight.
Pitch
an axis running from the pilot’s left to right in piloted aircraft, and parallel to the wings of a winged aircraft.
Roll
the normal direction of flight, or the direction the pilot faces.
Time Group
Four digits representing the hour and minutes from the Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) clock. FAA uses UTC for all operations. The term “ZULU” may be used to denote UTC.
