Parents, like teachers may use impression management in public spaces to give a socially desirable appearances/answers. This gives invalid data and can be overcome by using observational methods or accessing ‘backstage’ environments (e.g. the home)

Schools will want to keep data secure. Having the school itself send out letters, questionnaires etc and letting the parents effectively volunteer themselves may overcome this, though you may be left with an unrepresentative study with only one parent who will answer such letters
