When giving a parenting order to attend counselling sessions or guidance sessions, what is the time restrictions on this?
maximum once a week
up to 3 month
What could be the conditions of a parenting order?

- escort the child to school
- ensure that a responsible adult is present in the home in the evening to supervise the child
When may the court make a parenting order?

- a child or young person is convicted of an offence
- a parent is convicted of an offence relating to truancy under the Education Act 1996
When should a court make a parenting order and when should they not?
Should when a person is aged under 16 and is convicted of an offence
-Shouldn’t be used if the courts don’t feel that it is desirable in the interests of preventing the conduct which gave rise to the order
What must a court do if an offender under 16 has been convicted of an offence but they do not grant a Parenting Order?
-Must state in open court that it is not satisfied and explain why not
