Cause chronic focal interstitial hepatitis(milk spot)
What do lungworms do to lungs?
Cause lesions.
Yellow or reddish brown shot-like nodules
Feels like lead shot
Sometimes calcify
What are signs of liver fluke/fasctioliasis?
Acute swelling and congestion of the liver
Chirrotic
Calcification of bike ducts
Distorted liver
Sheep liver may be emaciated and oedematous
What do warble fly maggots do to cattle?
Mature under skin of back, adults after pupating lay eggs in cattle limbs.
What are signs of larvae in cattle?
Tracts and capsules under skin
What effect can parasites have on animals?
Emaciation, poor was and stunted growth
Local destruction of tissue
Inflammatory diseases
Cirrhosis
Haemorrhages
Obstruction of blood vessels or bile ducts
Death
What issues do tapeworms cause?
Cysts, removal required at inspection or rejection of livers if badly affected
What are symptoms in a live animal of worms?
Fever, coughing, stunted growth, pot-bellies appearance
How might man get a tapeworm?
Eating undercooked infected meat
What does a liver fluke look like?
Greyish-brown in colour, leaf shaped
How do animals get liver fluke?
While grazing
