original vs paraphrase
Our findings show that women (30-34 years) at an early stage of career
development concentrate on the competencies of Know-how and
Knowing-why while those (35-45 years) at mid-career focus on the
acquisition of Knowing-whom as adding value to their career
development.’
Chen et al., 2012, p.243
The career development competencies of ‘Know-how’ and ‘Knowing-why’
are given priority by females at the start of their careers (aged 30-34),
whereas in the middle of their careers (aged 35-45) females apply
themselves to acquiring ‘Knowing-whom’ in order to enhance their career
development (Chen et al., 2012, p.243).
how do you summarise?
- Read the source text and make sure you
understand it. - Underline the key points to include (they
should relate to the main message of your
paragraph). - Use paraphrasing techniques to put the
information into your own words. - Add the in-text citation.
- Check the meaning against the original
source.
