Q
How does lithium potentiate (increase the action) NMBDs?
A
1) Activates K channels in prejunctional neurons > interference of AP transmission to the nerve terminal
2) Activates K channels on the postsynaptic myocytes > mm contraction inhibition

Q
If a patient is on lithium, how may induction medications be adjusted?
A
If giving NMBDs, the overall dose should be reduced as it potentiates their action.
