Wood pulp

A

Used to make various types of papers

Both hardwood and softwood trees can be used to provide the untested material which is called wood pulp

From the wood pulp cellulose fibres can be taken

HOW DO U GET WOOD PULP?

Cooking the wood chips in the presence of SODIUM HYDROXIDE and SULPHIDE LIQUIR under HIGH PRESSURE removes the LIGNIN and sore rates the wood into cellulose fibres

During this process approx half of the wood dissolved and the pulp is then washed, screened and bleached

Corrugated board

A
3 main types 
Can be defined if they contain any of the following traits:
- 1 flat line board
- 2 flat line boards 
- flutes of corrugated sheets 

The 3 types:
- single face: 1 sheet of line board glued to corrugated flutes

  • single wall: 2 line boards with corrugated flutes in the centre
  • double wall - 3 line board sheets with 2 layers of corrugated flutes.

Foil lined board

A

Foil line board is laminated with aluminium foil
It’s only laminated on one side
Good moisture resistance - seen in drink cartons
In some cases foil is resolved with white card which is coated to the board
Good printing surface
Stiff
Rigid
Easy to shape / form
