Paper 1 Questions Flashcards
Write these numbers in order of size. Start with the smallest number.
a) 6.72 x 10^5 b) 67.2 x 10^-4
c) 672 x 10^4 d) 0.000672
d) 0.000672
b) 67.2 x 10^-4
a) 6.72 x 10^5
c) 672 x 10^4
Three whole numbers are each rounded to the nearest 1O. The sum of the rounded numbers is 70.
Work out the maximum possible sum for the original three numbers.
Each number needs to end with 4.
so 34 + 24 + 24 = 82
Rounded would be 30 + 20 + 20 = 70
Write as an ordinary number.
3.4 x 1O^-2
3.4 x 1/(10^2)
=3.4 x 0.01
=0.034
A sequence has three terms.
The term-to-term rule for the sequence is
[multiply by 8 and then add 11]
a) The fist term for the sequence -1
Work out the third term.
b) The order of the three terms is reversed to make a new sequence. Work out the term-to-term rule for the sequence.
a) 2nd -1 x 8 + 11 = 8 + 11 = 3
3rd 3 x 8 + 11 = 24 + 11 = 35
b) Subtract 11 then divide by 8.
